Basic Concepts
For any sort of fencing
The Basic Concepts: What makes a Swordsman? Is it his sword? His skills? His honor? It is my firm belief that a swordsman is the classic warrior from days long past. Men of courage, boldness, intelligence, and honor. That a true swordsman would still be a swordsman even when his sword is gone. Because he is not a weapons platform, mindlessly tearing down any target or person that is put before him. He is the weapon. And he is the heart and mind of the weapon. His standards of right and wrong, of mercy and justice, define him and his actions. He is not a Soldier, fighting because he is told. He is not a fighter, fighting because he likes it. He is a true man, he struggles with and without weapons for the benefit of the weak and helpless.
It is these basic qualities that make a swordsman, and these basic concepts that this section of the site will be dedicated to teaching. We will cover Mindset, Training, Fitness, Injury Prevention, and Ethics.
